Property Inspections
A Giroud Certified Arborist will perform a thorough evaluation of your property and determine your tree care needs. Our Arborist will check for insects, disease, girdling roots, cracked and dead limbs, weakly attached limbs, defective crotches, weak root systems, hollow cavities, just to name a few. Once you become a Giroud customer, you can arrange to have periodic monitoring of your trees and shrubs. Keeping a regular check on your property ensures that problems are caught early before serious damage occurs.
Diagnosis and Testing

A comprehensive inspection is usually all that's needed to determine what's wrong with a tree. However, more intensive analysis may be required for rare or more challenging conditions. Giroud has an arsenal of tools and testing at our disposal including:

Root Excavation: Excavation is used to determine the health of the roots, identify signs of insects and disease and check for root injury. The structure and strength of the roots can also be evaluated.

Tissue Testing: If we are uncertain of the exact nature of the insect or disease, samples of the tree's roots, trunk, branches, leaves and buds can be analyzed in a laboratory.

Soil Testing: Soil is a critical factor in tree health. Soil samples can be studied to determine the levels of key micro and macro-nutrients, Ph and the soil's ability to hold moisture and transport nutrients to the tree. Depending on the results, aeration, adding nutrients, grading and adjusting the Ph are just a few of the possible actions.

Tree and Shrub Care
Giving your trees and shrubs the care they need will greatly increase their life and beauty as well as add value to your home. But more importantly, you can reduce the risk of trees falling or breaking apart especially in a storm. If you are not already a Giroud customer, you may not be aware that proper tree care requires professionals who are skilled in the national standards for arboricultural practices. Even basic tree pruning can damage a tree if it is done improperly. We provide our field staff with intensive training throughout the year to continually improve their knowledge and techniques. Our tree and shrub care services include:
  • Tree and shrub preservation
  • Thinning and pruning
  • Cabling and bracing weak limbs
  • Insect and Disease Control
Insects and diseases can severely weaken or even kill a tree by destroying its leaves, trunk or roots. Our insect and disease treatment programs are based on the latest research and technology available. Wherever possible, we strive to use alternatives to the traditional sprays and chemicals that can kill both the good and the bad insects. Our strategies include soap and oil sprays, soil and trunk injections and not spraying unless insects have reached dangerous levels. A Giroud Arborist will be happy to evaluate your trees for insect and disease problems.
    Tick Control
Protect your family and pets from Lyme Disease.  Giroud can help control ticks on your property with perimeter clean-up, selective pruning and targeted spray treatments.  Treatments should be applied in late May or early June and in September or October.  Additional treatments may be required for properties in highest risk areas.  For more information on tick control go to:  Seasonal Problems
