What Destroys Spotted Lanternfly Eggs Besides Hand Sanitizer?

Now during winter is a great time to scrape and destroy Spotted Lanternfly Egg Masses. It’s best to destroy the eggs in hand sanitizer, but that stuff is a precious commodity during the COVID-19 Pandemic! Here are some other ways to destroy egg masses effectively.

Save the Hand Sanitizer

Hand sanitizer is quick and effective at destroying Spotted Lanternfly Eggs. Plus, it’s a convenient option for when you’re outside and see eggs when you’re not close to home. Here are other agents that have been proven to kill the eggs quickly as well:

  • Dish detergent
  • Vinegar
  • Alcohol
  • Insecticidal soap

Or, just scrape the egg masses into a bag and then squish them!

The important thing is to make sure the eggs are completely submerged in whatever substance you use. As an added bonus, leave your collected killings in a sealed plastic bag before you toss them into the trash!
