Last week, a dangerously brittle dead Ash Tree needed to be removed from a property in Abington, PA. We have had a particularly brutal winter this year, so the client wanted the job done as soon as possible in order to avoid storm damage. Giroud Arborist Rob Nagy organized his crew and scheduled a 40 ton crane for this tricky removal. However, on the morning of the job, snow began to fall and blanketed the area yet again.
Can Tree Work Be Done in Wintry Conditions?
Winter is actually a great time for tree work! The ground was frozen at the property in Abington, so Rob’s crew could easily drive the crane onto the client’s property without causing lawn damage. Crew members Doug Muth, Billy Santry and Dan Rombold did a fantastic job removing this Ash even though snow was falling!
Most trees are free of leaves in winter, so cleaning up a job site is a lot easier! If you have a pool, play area, patio or deck, winter time might be the best time for you to have your trees pruned or removed.
Safety First… Safety Always.
If you are hiring a tree company to take care of your property, you want to be sure they have safety in mind always. Here at Giroud Tree & Lawn, we train our tree climbers and techs weekly, monthly and seasonally on the best practices for safe tree care. Check out our Winter Training Day here!
Winter Is a Great Time for a Property Inspection
Now is one of the best times for your ISA Certified Arborist to spot stress cracks in trees caused by extreme drops in temperatures. Since most trees are bare, your Arborist can also get a clearer look at the crown, or the top of the tree, and check for hazardous branches.
